Anatomy & Yin Yoga Module 1 (50 hours)
Based on the teachings of Paul Grilley

Deepen your Yin yoga practice with the Anatomy & Yin Yoga Module 1 at De Nieuwe Yogaschool in Amsterdam.

This intensive 50-hour Anatomy & Yin Yoga Module 1 is part of the Yin Yoga Teacher Training offered by De Nieuwe Yogaschool. It is possible to enroll for these 50 hours individually.

Did you attend this 50-hour module and you would like to finish the entire 200-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training with José? Then you can complement this 50-hour Module 1.

This 50-hour module enriches your Yin yoga practice and increases your knowledge of anatomy which you will learn to apply practically to Yin yoga poses. The module is also a valuable addition to previously acquired anatomical knowledge in other Yoga Teacher Trainings.

This module, will provide intensive study of the basic anatomy and physiology of the human body, and you will learn to apply this knowledge practically to 20 Yin yoga poses. You will gain insight into your own body, and that of others, from an analysis of your fellow students’ range of movement for each joint, studying their individual possibilities and limitations. Furthermore, you will study the muscles of the torso, hips and legs, the connective tissues, the bones of the body, and the definitions of joint movements. This anatomical knowledge is very important and forms the basis for teaching safe and solid Yin yoga classes.

In addition to practicing daily Yin Yoga poses, you will study the functions and effects of the yoga poses on all bodies, developing the primary skills and knowledge to teach and adjust the positions suitable for each individual. During the programme you will have practice in adjusting and the usage of props, so you can apply this during the Yin yoga class you will teach on day 7&8. Lastly you will explore the basic principles of Taoism and Chinese Medicine, and increase your self-knowledge with coaching and Dharma teachings.

This 50-hour module is short and intense. Therefore José offers an additional route in which you will have more practice in teaching, adjusting and the usage of props. Then you will also explore and deepen your personal meditation practice. The additional route consists out of another 50 hours. A successful completion of the two 50-hour trajectories, equals the Anatomy & Yin Yoga Teacher Training Part 1 (100 hours) offered by José. For a 200-hour Yin yoga certification from Jose (recognized by Yoga Alliance -YA), you also have to attend the 100-hour Part 2 Anatomy & Yin Yoga Teacher Training.

* Please, contact José at [email protected],  for more information on the additional 50-hours route.

TeacherJosé de Haan - de Groot

Yin Yoga is a deep meditative, quiet and energetic yoga style which consists mainly of sitting or lying poses, which restore joint mobility and stimulate the connective tissues. In addition, the practice improves Chi flow and helps to develop yin qualities such as daily meditation, the art of observation and letting go.

Suitability and requirements:

The module is open to students with a regular Yin yoga practice, and who know the names of the Yin yoga poses. The module is suitable for those looking to teach Yin yoga classes and/or would like to deepen their own Yin yoga practice. Additionally it may assist those who wish to expand their professional skills as a yoga teacher.
To prepare for this module we advise you to take a few online classes or join a Yin Yoga & Reiki retreat with José.

Self-study:
