Practical anatomy for a yoga practice (18 hours)
For Yoga teachers or Yoga students
Based on the teachings of Paul Grilley

With José de Groot

Experience, discover and understand the limitations and possibilities of your body to create a secure, personal, deep and adventurous yoga practice with endless possibilities. Jose will inspire you to look with fresh eyes to your and others bodies, based on her studies with Paul Grilley.

You will work interactively to discover, compare and learn about how the body works, our anatomical possibilities and differences, and how you can work more intelligently by applying practical knowledge while doing the most common yoga poses. This course is specifically not a theoretical lecture about basic anatomy, but a combination of lecture, practice, looking, working with each other and applying your new knowledge.

You will learn:

  • To analyze the most common yoga poses including: bone & joint basics, movement definitions, and the key muscles and ligaments that get stretched and strengthened during yoga.

  • To observe your own physical capabilities and limitations and compare to that with other people.  Giving you insight around why people need to practice yoga poses differently.

  • To investigate what can be the relevant therapeutic way of practicing asana for different bodies. This will enable you to experiment with the poses yourself and/or to give various options to your yoga students.

Each workshop contains a yoga session that consists of a combination of Yin & Vinyasa based Yoga. During these sessions you will experience and try out everything you've learned during the workshops.

A unique opportunity to get to know, analyze and use your body in order to deepen your yoga practice!

Notes:

This workshop is ideal for beginners, advanced Yogis and Yoga teachers who want to understand their body, want to explore its boundaries and want to create a personal and therapeutic practice.  The anatomical principles apply to all yoga poses, yoga styles and other sports.
